The Organic Career Network (OCN) Internship Program connects aspiring professionals with hands-on learning experiences in organic agriculture. Our paid internships offer opportunities to build practical skills, receive mentorship, and gain exposure to diverse careers in the organic sector—from farming and research to certification, policy, advocacy and much more.

Internship Cycles

OCN hosts three internship cohorts each year. All interns begin the program at the same time, with end dates set by their host organization.

Summer 2026

Summer internship opportunities will run approximately mid-June-late August

Organic Community Engagement Intern

This position will support public-facing programming that connects community members to local food systems, organic growing practices, and food justice initiatives. This role centers on storytelling, education, volunteer engagement, and communications strategy within a nonprofit urban agriculture setting.

Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) Organic Farming Internship

The TEK Organic Farming Intern will learn to apply Traditional Ecological Knowledge principles and practices with their university agricultural science studies resulting in an expanded understanding of the importance of restoring food systems that strengthen health and wellness.

Three Sisters Organic Garden Internship

The Three Sisters Garden Organic Farming Intern will learn to fulfill the vision of many tribes who traditionally grow corn, beans and squash, and share it with others, both Native American and other participating growers. The intern will also help to maintain organic vegetables growing in raised beds at two organic farms.They will also meet collaborative partners including the Marion-Polk Food Share which provides supplementary education and technical assistance support; and the Indian Health Service Clinic at Chemawa Indian School where we provide the vegetable to low-income Native American clients.

PNW Organic Week Intern

This position will support the Pacific Northwest (PNW) Organic Week campaign that Tilth Alliance is hosting in partnership with the Oregon Organic Coalition with funding provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Organic Market Development Grant (OMDG).

Organic Ag Internship

This role offers an immersive learning experience focused on sustainable and organic farming practices. Participants will gain hands-on experience on KBFA incubator farms and in high tunnel production systems, along with opportunities to participate in workshops, mentorship, and educational events alongside experienced organic farmers and agricultural professionals.

Organic Urban Ag Intern

A central component of the internship focuses on community engagement and public-facing programming. Interns will support workshops, volunteer activities, educational events, outreach initiatives, and communications efforts that help connect community members to local food systems and organic growing practices. Interns will also assist with marketing and storytelling efforts through social media content creation, promotional materials, and communications that support fundraising and public awareness initiatives.

Organic Farming Communications Intern

AAC is seeking an intern to organize, create and produce a five-part series of expert panel discussions related to organic and regenerative farming on LinkedIn Live and/or other platforms

Organic Agriculture Communications & Operations Internship

NPSAS is seeking a motivated, organized intern to support website development, events, nonprofit operations, communications, and content production. This paid internship offers hands-on shadowing and training across multiple functions to build practical skills for careers in nonprofit management, digital media, and event coordination.

These internships will run mid-September-December.

Who is eligible to apply?

OCN internships are open to undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals exploring work in organic agriculture.

Are internships paid?

 Yes. All internships are paid opportunities. Each host organization sets compensation rates.

Can I apply to more than one internship?

Yes. Applicants may apply to multiple positions during the same cycle.

Do I have to attend the cohort sessions?

Yes. All interns are required to attend four virtual sessions, including a final presentation.
